3 Tips for Motorcycle Maintenance

1. Walkaround
   As stupid as it may sound, doing a walkaround means looking for anything unusual on your bike. Check everything completely. Because everything in a vehicle gradually wears down, this makes it challenging to find parts or gears that require immediate attention. However, once you set your mind to spotting the worn-out parts, you’ll be surprised by the number of issues you’ll find. Look for leaking streaks. Any dripping must be attended to immediately. Check its scent to see if it’s oil, fuel, or a coolant.
   
   Switch your bike on and check its horn and lights, along with its battery. Additionally, make sure that your registration and insurance for the vehicle isn’t close to expiring. If it is, it’s time for renewal.
   
   
2. Battery
   Make sure your battery is fully charged if it’s on a maintenance charger for quite a while. However, a fully charged battery may not be a guarantee enough that it won’t suddenly die out in the middle of your big seasonal ride. Using a multimeter to check your battery life will help you give a picture of its overall health. You can also perform several tests with the multimeter aside from only checking the standing voltage. Despite the lack of fancy meters, you can still get a pretty decent idea of whether your battery might quickly wear out or not.
   
   
3. Tires and Wheels
   The condition of tires shouldn't be underestimated. Since motorcyclists only get one pair, they will have to offer their trust, which can sometimes be risky. Despite age being a factor, it’s not the only one that can determine the roadworthiness of a tire. Contrary to what was first said, motorcycle tires have a longer life expectancy compared to the wheels for cars. The most significant factor for a motorcycle tire’s death is wear. Tires showing indicators of wear and tear will be quick to spot. If the wear bar flushes with the tire surface, it’s a definite sign of replacement.
